Calling all youth composers! Hear Ye, Hear Ye—the annual competition is coming……
Idaho and National Federation of Music Clubs annual Jr Composer’s
A small entry fee $20 is required, points are earned toward a Gold Cup, cash awards given at the state, regional and national level. State winners are forwarded to the Western Region and regional winners are forwarded to the national level. Entries must be completely submitted by January 31, 2026 at 9:59 PM MST. (Don’t wait until the last day the system is often overloaded.) Songs must be originally composed by the student. Music can be entered in print using MuseScore, Noteflight, Flat and other programs or even by hand. Free options are available for printing out music
Entries are submitted Jan. 2- Jan. 31 (don’t wait until the last day, the system often crashes)
Click on the form associated with the accurate age of the student before March 1, 2026.
Class I age: 9 and under
Class II ages 10-12
Class III ages 13-15
Class IV ages 16-18
It’s a two-step process for the student. Go to File Upload, Junior Composers Awards, and click on the class to fill in the application form and to upload the pdf and mp3. After that submission, go to Online payment and choose Plans/Junior Composers Award, and complete the payment information. The student can either upload first or pay first; it doesn’t matter. Students will need their teacher’s name, address, and email, a pdf of their score (written music they composed and notated) and an audio mp3. Please make sure it is saved in an mp3 format- this is the ONLY format that can be forwarded to the judges, along with filling out the form and then going to the fees page and pay the fee.
